Fashion For This Ducky and Platypus Weather

It was our first rain in a few weeks, and it was so refreshing, I am hoping it will be sunny again tomorrow though, so we can go for a walk and see how lush and green everything will be!

Most things about the rain are not great, but I do love rainy day fashion! Rainboots, cute umbrellas, and great trench coats. I love my trench coat! I have had the same one for four years now, its so great that I almost never even look at coats anymore because I know that nothing will make me feel as pretty as my trusty black trench with the full skirt!

{If you could ignore my dieing garden in the background that would be awesome! I don't have the greatest green thumb}

What are some of your favorite rainy day fashion items?

Photoshoot Friday With Jaylena Photography

Since my last post was a little on the depressing side, thought I would share something a little more uplifting!

Thank you everyone that gave me such wonderful comments, messages, and emails, it was so amazing to know that so many feel the way I do sometimes, will definatly help me feel ok to not be to perfect all the time :)

Two weeks ago Jason and I had some sunset photos taken with Lena and Jason from Jaylena. They are such a great team, full of creative ideas, are great at setting up and styling shots.

Have a great weekend everyone!

My Version Of Honesty

I really have not been that much of a blogging mood. I feel guilty not updating, and my August photo project has been long forgotten, maybe I will finish it at another time. Even just saying that I am going to put something off is out of the normal for me. I very rarely take something on unless I can give it 200% of my energy.

So here it is, part of the real me. I hope I
don't scare anyone off and hope you won't judge me to harshly, for saying the things, that SAHM's are not usually suppose to say. I really just didn't want this blog to be all bubbly and perfect, I want to share parts of the real me.

I have a bit of a problem when it comes to perfection. I love being a SAHM, its a great job. But its a job that if a mistake is made I feel like I not only let myself down, I let Ethan, Peyton, and Jason down. I try so hard to be a calm and serene Momma, but lately I have been snapping a little more easier then usuall. I feel so terrible after. A non-parent friend of mine tried to tell me that it was ok to get angry once and a while and that it wouldn't do any harm to Ethan. He told me his parents got angry at him a lot and he turned out fine. I gave it a try, and to be honest I felt like I had gone from being Ethan's best friend to being a bully. All getting mad at Ethan did was make him cry harder and make me feel worse for doing that to him. This scenorio only happened twice, I gave it a second chance, because I know that Ethan sometimes can play me a little. But I still wonder if Ethan will ever look back and remember that Momma made him upset...

I try and do all the ''right'' things for Ethan and Peyton, and do my best to make our home as nice as I can for all of us. Lately though I am just finding it much to over whelming and exahusting. I have never been great at cooking and cleaning on a consistant basis. My friends tease me and call me spoiled because Jason does help ALOT with both cleaning and cooking, but for awhile I was finding it easy and doing it all, until Peyton reverted back to her days of crying all day, everyday. { All though yesterday and today she is happy, which is great since a friend will be watching her for me today while I work } I carry her around in my baby hawk carrier, and shes quiet, but its a little tough to wash dishes or be near a hot stove with a wiggly baby in front of you. And lets be honest no matter how great the baby carrier, your back does start to hurt after awhile.

I have been trying to let her cry it out once and a while, sometimes it works and other times it doesn't so I go and pick her up after 5 minutes. I am not sure I will ever be able to relax doing this though, when I know that if I just pick her up she will stop.

I have let her go for longer a couple of times while we over at our families houses, but I feel like if I take my eyes off the door that I know she is behind I am abandoning her. I know it sounds dramatic and extreme, but its true.

When Peyton was first born all she did was cry, and what got me through all that was telling myself that in a year from then she would be a lot calmer and would trade her cries in for the odd scream here and there. Now I am left asking myself how much longer will this really go on for?

I had a few doctors appointments this week, because I really am just not feeling well. I am hoping to find out soon what exactly is going on. For now the doctors are telling me its due to stress. I can see that, but I am having a hard time believing there isn't something more going on and got the sense that they only said stress because they didn't know what else to say.

Sorry if the post seemed alittle all over the place. Thanks for reading a side of the real me. I promise I will get back to the bubbly posts soon.

Think You Have Moves As Cool As This Little Guy?

Since Ethan was a baby, he has always gotten excited for '80's music. One band in particular he LOVES is Hall and Oates.

13 Months

I am a few days late in this post, but its been a busy few days.

So thirteen months after Peyton was born we are all doing much better. It is amazing what the proper amount of sleep can do for a family. She is growing and growing, although she can still fit into her 3 month old onsies {weird, right?}.

Peyton loves: Any kind of food, to model and be a ham for the camera, getting into Mamma's jewelry box and adroning herself with necklaces and bracelets. She loves to says kisses { and also give and recieve them } And mostly she loves Ethan, and letting him carry her around. I am pretty sure that is the reason she is not walking yet. I mean would you walk if you had someone carry you everywhere? She has even started standing next to the couch and lifting her arms as a signal to Ethan that she wants to move.

Happy 100th Birthday Lucille Ball

Happy 100th Birthday Lucille Ball!

I love this show, I watched it when I was young, and now in the morning Ethan and I watch it together. I still cannot believe how Lucy and Ethel get into as many of the perdicaments as they do. Yes, Yes I realize its a scripted show. But I always lose myself in watching the crazy adventures Lucy has.

In doing some reading for this blog post I found some Fun Facts about Lucille Ball

  • Lucille Ball met Desi Arnez on set of the movie Dance, Girl, Dance
  • CBS first turned down the I Love Lucy show, so DESILU was created so they could take their act on the road.
  • Lucille Ball was rejected from acting school, she became a model under the name Diane Belmont.

My top four favorite I love Lucy episodes are:

Now go and have your own crazy adventures today!

Inspiration For The Weekend

I am shooting a wedding tomorrow. And wanted to share some of the photos I found on Pintrest that I have been looking at to keep me inspired.

Have a great weekend everyone!

What Am I? Anyone Remember this book?

I am Creative, A Momma, I like to write, but I am unpublished. What Am I?
When people ask me what I do for work, I always struggle with an answer. I have my photography but for the most part I spend far more time blogging. This is where the real confusion comes in. I most often answer that I am a Momma Blogger. It always easy to see that they have a look come over their face that says you blog? And people care? They never actually say those words, but instead they uncomfortably say oh how fun for you.

The few times I gathered the nerve to say that I am a writer. I immediatly felt like a fraud. I am not published, I didn't go to school for writing, and I make mistakes hear here and their there.

I saw a pin on pintrest that said ''If you find yourself asking, ' Am I really a writer? Am I really an artist?' Chances are You ARE. The counterfit innovator is wildly self confident. The real one is. scared. to death.''

I have recieved compliments in the past that people admire my confidence. And while I am fairly confident I still get nervous everytime I hit that publish button, if the readers of my post will think its boring, or maybe it's to short, and about 15 other things go through my mind.

My process of writing usually goes along like this:

I look at my inspiration board, maybe take a look at my notebook of blog ideas

I start to write, usually take me about an hour to write a full good post

I sit back and re-read what I wrote and I will either leave it or I am inspired to write about something different, something I should have been talking about all along.

From there I will either publish the post, or take about another 30 minutes to re-write and adjust my post.

Most of the time my posts never end up being what I thought they would be. Even when I write a post about Ethan and P, just a simple story of what we did that day I have caught myself learning something.

Blogging and writing has taught me to become more aware of everything that is around me, and made me think a lot about how I hope people will percieve me.

Its creative and theraputic.

The best part is its on my own terms. As I mentioned above I didn't go to school for writing or journalism, but to blog I don't need a degree. Although I would like to take some creative writing classes.

When I blog it is usually in the morning, with Peyton napping, Ethan watching a movie. And I am eating my breakfast. I try and write as though I am having a conversation with whoever is reading my posts as though they are in my living room with us.

I love sharing my posts, and I love all the comments, and emails I recieve. I do read them all! And do my best to answer them.

So there it it!
My writing process and my struggle with being a blogger or a writer.
For today anyways lets say I am writer.

Mini Style - Cherrios Fashion

My fashion post with Peyton must have inspired her because this morning she decided she wanted to adorn herself with Cherrios! Its amazing how fast a baby can get into something in the amount of time it takes to load a dishwasher.

Peyton was so proud of herself, when she saw me pick up my camera she threw her arm in the air to say look at me!

Toddler Says

It occured to me that while I write about Ethan and Peyton, I have never asked Ethan about his thoughts and what kind of things he would share if he knew spelling, grammar, and writing form.

From here on out the rest of this post is all Ethan.

Ethan what makes a good big brother?

A big brother is a big job. I like to help take care of Peyton, when she is crying. I feel special because I know how to make her stop and be happy. But sometimes it doesn't always work, so I go and get her cookies. Peyton LOVES cookies! I like sharing my toys and food with Peyton, she is small like a flower and needs love to grow.

It is also my job to keep all rude boys away from my sister. Daddy says he needs my help with this. He taught me to say "NO RUDE BOYS NEAR MY SISTER!"

I like being a big brother because when we go for walks and people say how pretty Peyton is. I get to be the one to say she's my sister. I hope that Peyton and I will always be friends.

What are some of your favorite things to do with Mamma and Daddy?

I like it when we go for walks and I like it when we take lots of picutres. Even more then that though I like to go to Oma and Opa's lake. I like to swim, and go under water, and have boat rides in the water too! I really like to splash and chase Daddy! Hahaha

What would you tell a friend who is starting their first day of pre-school?

Make lots of new friends, have fun and play. And make lots of arts and crafts! But I don't like to sing all the time, the teacher sings alot, and sometimes I only want to do the actions and listen to the song.

Thanks so much Ethan for writing your first post with Mamma!

Mini Style - Vintage and Lace

A few days after finding out that we were having a girl I dragged Jason and Ethan out to go shopping for vintage baby clothes for my little doll. I am hoping that if I start putting her into vintage now, it will engrain something in her and she and I can share this love as she grows.

Peyton wasn't quiet ready to put the other dress away yet. The love has begun!

This little shirt is my favorite find! I love the little beads sewn into the flowers.
